Slovenia’s Geoplin has signed its first gas supply deal with SOCAR, Azerbaijan’s state oil company, marking the beginning of potential long-term energy cooperation following a Memorandum of Understanding signed in July 2024.

Slovenia’s Geoplin and Azerbaijan’s SOCAR signed a Memorandum of Understanding on July 17, 2024, to strengthen cooperation in natural gas supply, reinforcing Slovenia’s energy security and diversification efforts.

Slovenia’s Geoplin has signed an annex to its natural gas supply contract with Algeria’s Sonatrach, increasing gas imports via Italy and strengthening bilateral energy cooperation amid the opening of Slovenia’s embassy in Algiers.

ADEX (Alpine-Adriatic Danube Power Exchange), the first regional power exchange for Central and South-Eastern Europe, was officially established in December 2022 in Ljubljana, merging BSP SouthPool and SEEPEX to provide harmonized power trading services in Slovenia and Serbia.

Slovenia’s Geoplin has signed a three-year natural gas supply contract with Algeria’s Sonatrach, securing deliveries from January 2023 to December 2025, enhancing energy security and diversification via pipelines through Tunisia, the Mediterranean, and Italy.
